INCABULOS
Runes: Chaos, Darkness, Death, Spirit
Known by all as the deity of evil sendings, Incabulos
is the master of disease, drought, nightmares, and the like. Those who
find delight in woe are his natural servants, and those with purer hearts
fear to even speak his name, lest they draw his unwanted attention.
Cult in the World
Servants of Incabulos are secretive even in nations
where evil walks unchallenged, as Incabulos is feared nearly as much as
the dread name of Tharizdun. In other lands, the home of a suspected Incabulos
worshipper is likely to be burned down around them, as none wish to touch
or be touched by anyone who trucks with this fell deity.
Lay Membership
Requirements: Incabulos will accept worship
from anyone. By sacrificing a point of POW and a varaible amount of magic
points to him, the applicant gains a general resistance to disease equal
to the number of magic points sacrificed. Thereafter, that person must
sacrifice an equal number of magic points at each equinox, or he loses
his connection to Incabulos, and must sacrifice another point of POW to
reawaken their immunity to disease.
Initiate Membership - Involuntary
Requirements: Involuntary initiates are those
who have been possessed by one of Incabulos' spirits (disease or passion),
and who sacrifices a point of POW to Incabulos with a plea to end their
suffering. If Incabulos hears their plea (POW x5% chance) the suffering
ends, and the victim is now an Involuntary Initiate of Incabulos. However,
they are not freed from their possession by that spirit, it merely becomes
dormant within them. They must thereafter make regular sacrifices to Incabulos
(1 mp per year, normally) or the spirit will reawaken and attack them until
they make the sacrifice required. In addition, the victim becomes
a carrier of the disease or passion that dwells within them. Other diseases
or passions can still affect the victim, though he remains completely immune
to the type that dwells within themselves.
Initiate Membership - Voluntary
Requirements: Thos who choose to serve Incabulos
must formally seek out one of his priests. If not already Involuntary Initiates,
they will be infected with a disease or passion in much the same way as
an Involuntay Inititate. Incabulos' priests are laws unto themselves; they
teaach what skills they know, or choose to share, and none others. They
teach spirit magic when and as they choose as well, but will generally
teach their students at least 1 point of spirit magic for free every five
years or so.
Spirit Magic: All spirit magic spells are
aavailbale at the discretion of the priest/shamans of the cult.
Priesthood
Requirements: Priests of Incabulos are also
shamans. Their mission in life is to spread misery wherever they go, and
this is even reflected in the nature of their fetch, which takes on the
characteristics of either a shade, a disease spirit, or a passion spirit.
Virtues include Creative, Cruel, Destructive, Misanthropic, and Private.
The Creative/Destructive duality of Incabulos reflects his desire to find
new ways to destroy or torment; not a bright, happy type of creation.
