Rashann was born to two acolytes who served at the very temple she now commands. Raised within the temple, she never once saw the light of the day until her thirteenth year, when she was taken aboveground so that she could decide for herself whether she truly wished to serve the Dark Mother or dwell in the sunlit world.

Upon her return to the familiar halls of her youth, she was completely initiated into the cult, and into womanhood at the hands of the inner circle. She rose quickly through the hierarchy, and by her thirtieth year, made her bid for the priesthood. Beltar smiled upon her supplicant, and granted her an allied spirit as well as eternal life.

Rashann, while a mummy, has never been bandaged the way most folk picture them. She is even still quite active, in a mockingly amorous way, though only the most dedicated of acolytes would admit to enjoying it. Her dry, withered body is continuously in shadow, as her allied shade wraps itself continuously about her.

The complex Rashann oversees is the center of Beltar's cult for the region, and is located beneath Felnarith peak, in the Duchy of Urnst. The citadel is guarded on the outside by several Guardians led by a Black Serpent, with a reserve comprised of almost three dozen ghouls and zombies.

The tunnels twist and spiral downwards for about seven miles, with at least a dozen way stations and checkpoints along the way. Some have mythic signifigance to the goddess, others are merely safe places to rest. Guardians and Outcasts man these, though some are left in the care of undead servants (none of which will attack a party that presents a holy symbol of Beltar).

The great hall dedicated to the goddess is large and ornately decorated; even those few dwurin who have made their way there have been duly impressed by the skill of the humans who have made their mark in the living stone of the cavern. In the center of the hall, lit by the light of over three thousand candles sits an immense and startlingly beautiful statue of a wyrm nearly five meters long. Dedicated to Beltar, this statue serves as the temple's main defender against those who might seek to profane it.

The Felnarith complex has existed for almost six hundred years, and has twice been inhabited by avatars of the Deep Mother. In both cases the avatar died defending the complex from invaders, first from a city of duergar from the deep, the second battling legions of gibberlings led by illithids who sought to plunder the wealth of the temple. On both occasions, the high priestess of the temple accepted the mantle of their goddess.

(I am planning on mapping this temple complex in the future, watch this spot for developments...)
